This blog post is going to be all about self love and making the best out of any situation you find yourself in. Today has just been one of those days where you feel like the world is against you and you feel a little bit helpless. My laptop has been very temperamental today, to the point where it just won’t turn on anymore – despite my best efforts and the help of every help and apple forum I could find. Just my luck! I was going to write a completely different blog post, but because I’ve been in a bit of a strange mood today and felt a bit stressed I thought this would be a great time for me to give some insight into how I deal with feeling stressed or frustrated.
Take time for yourself – this is very important, I am a strong believer that you need to take some time for yourself to breathe, relax and figure out what is making your mind go crazy. I like to take this time to have a bath, or curl up on your bed with a good book and a cup of tea. Yoga always helps, allows me to breathe and helps me to understand what is troubling me. Anything to take your mind off of things to easy some of the stress will be a big help at the end of the day.
Candles – Candles help in every and any situation. They always make me feel better and I have to admit I am a bit of a candle hoarder. I will happily reuse the candle holders for anything such as lipstick holders! Sitting here on my bed now, I have 6 candles on and its an infusion of smells that is a bit overwhelming but I love how atmospheric it makes everything. Having candles on in my room makes my room feel that little bit more cosy and lovely and somehow always make me feel that little bit more calm.
Drinks and Chocolate – Now I don’t mean alcoholic drinks, although they don’t hurt every now and again *cough*wine*cough*, I mean the drink of the hot variety. A cup of tea or hot chocolate makes me feel great and especially in the winter months, it is a great relief from any stresses that I have. Especially while wrapped in a blanket and enjoying that new book you’ve been putting off for a while. Also, Chocolate doesn’t hurt at all! 😉
Talk about it – We’ve all been there, having a chat about it won’t hurt. I always feel better being able to talk someone about my problems and whats troubling me. My boyfriend Ryan always seems to get the brunt of my frustrations as I tend to go to him whenever I need to rant about something – a cuddle always helps too. Same with my friends, I know that I can always rely on my friends to help me out if I’m in a jam or if there’s something on my mind. Always helps to talk about whats stressing you and anything that is frustrating you, as the old saying goes ‘A problem shared is a problem halved’.
Just breathe – take a moment to reflect on whats troubling you and just remember to take a breath. Breathing deeply always helps me to calm down, especially when I’m starting to feel a bit hysterical. When you’re stressed it often becomes harder to breath and your breath comes out shorter and quicker so being able to make yourself take a moment to breathe deeply will help to relieve that anxiety and stress.
I hope these little things help and give you a little bit of an idea of things that you can do whenever you feel a little bit overwhelmed, stress or frustrated in life. What are your 5 things that you do whenever you feel stressed or frustrated? Let me know in the comments!
