Autumn Goals 🍁

On the 22nd day of September came the first day of Autumn here in the Northern hemisphere. I can’t believe how quickly the summer has flown by, but I have had such an amazing time, I couldn’t even begin to summarize it for you right now. As a new chapter in my life begins, I thought it would only be fitting that I made myself some Autumn Goals to see if I can, not only better myself, but truly enjoy this new phase of job hunting, getting a job (hopefully) and just enjoying the time spent with friends and family.

One of the big things for this year is getting healthier. Although I consider myself to be quite healthy, I know I’m not doing my best. I’m talking about the bags of chocolates and the alcohol and the fried chicken. It’s not that I eat it every day, just on the occasion I will indulge and I ALWAYS feel worse for it. So that brings me to Goal #1 – Live a healthier life. Not only is this not just about what kinds of food I am eating, but also about exercising and feeling good about myself. I have decided that to make me feel great I want to start running. I can no longer afford or even actually go to the gym at University anymore (mainly because I’m no longer a student but you know), so my cost-cutting way of getting fit is to run. It’s quite daunting running in public, in full view of passing cars, strangers watching you as you jog past but I will do it! My ultimate goal for this is to be able to run 5k without feeling like I’m going to die, but we’ll take this one step at a time for now.

I know this one is probably a given and if you’ve read some of my previous blogs you will know that I am unemployed. I’ve just graduated and was going to do a Masters, but decided that that wasn’t for me and am now looking for a job. It’s going quite well, I had an interview last week and then another interview is coming up next week so, fingers crossed!! Inevitably that means that Goal #2 is to find a job! I thought it would be really difficult, and although it hasn’t been the easiest thing to do, I have had some luck recently and am positive that something I love will come around the corner very soon.

I am currently still making my way through the big fat book that is Outlander and although it is a great book, it is very much a reiteration of the TV Show. So much so that it feels like I am reading the script from the show. Regardless, it is still a fantastic book and I can’t wait to continue reading! This leads me to Goal #3 – read more books. Before University, I was reading books left and right, within hours, but since coming to University that hasn’t happened. I find it more and more difficult to sit and read a book for hours on end. This is many because I get distracted very easily and my current housemates are absolute 10/10s so we always just end up on the sofa watching a movie or show together, or even just having a lovely chat! So my goal for this season is to read some more books!

I think in the past couple months I haven’t really had a lot of time for myself. I am a big yoga fan and practicing it used to make me feel so great about myself. It would calm me down if I was stressed, it would make me breathe if I was feeling anxious and it has made me all the more aware of my body and how it feels. I haven’t really had a chance to keep it up since the Summer began, but I’m hoping that Goal #4 – Practice Yoga every day will help me to get back in it. I am going to be doing a mixture of Yoga with Adriene videos and Bad Yogi videos. They are both great and regularly do 30 day yoga challenges that I love to follow.

… and that brings me to Goal #5 – blog more regularly.  I have found it a little difficult this week as I am back at my flat with all my friends, and instead of writing blog posts, you’ll find me winning Monopoly. Although it is great, I would love to blog more regularly and get things out on a more consistent basis. I’ve made myself a list of posts that I want to write in the next couple of weeks, so I am very excited to show you all what is coming up!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this little post about some of my goals for Autumn, and I would love to hear in the comments below what your goals for Autumn are!
