In Budapest, summer is still very much alive and kicking, something we found yesterday with 30C heat! In the late afternoon, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful summer sun and wonderful temperature by going to one of the many 360 Bars in Budapest – 360 Bar Budapest. It is one of my favourite bars in the city, located on the famous Andrássy Promenade, it boasts some incredible views of St Stephen’s Basilica, the Palace, and the Citadella.
The drinks. Let me tell you about these drinks. Now, I am a massive fan of the classic G&T and let me just say it was fantastic. The lemonades are refreshing, fruity and very summery. The Aperol (according to my Mum) hit the spot and was delicious. The atmosphere is brilliant, not only is the view breathtaking, the whole aesthetic of the place is picture perfect. There were fairy lights, music, plants and lovely painted wooden furniture – it just made the whole experience even better. Totally Instagram worthy!
After a few drinks at the 360 Bar, we walked across the road to a little restaurant called Big Fish. Big Fish is a fish restaurant (obviously) where you can choose from a variety of different fresh fish that are displayed in a long glass container. You then get to choose how you want your fish cooked, what sides you want and any starters. I started off the meal with raw tuna slices with a green salad. It was delicious. After that, I had some fish and chips – which was a bit more like baked crisps – but even still, they were great.
To round off a wonderful evening with my family (minus my sister, Isabel) we finished off by having some ice cream at a great little place, right next to Big Fish. I choose the Mango Ice Cream, which was more like a sorbet, but even still it hit the spot. I would definitely recommend visiting this ice cream parlour, albeit not the best in Budapest, it was still pretty good and a great way to end the evening.
I hope you all enjoyed hearing about my experience out for the evening, and hopefully, it’ll give you a few ideas for places to go if you ever find yourself in this amazing city!
