Since my amazing birthday, I have been in Budapest with my wonderful family. It has been such a lovely trip, albeit not finished yet, and it makes me appreciate all the wonderful things that I love about this city.
We have lived in Budapest for about 4 years now, and I still sometimes feel like a tourist. Every time I come back I find exciting new places to explore. Recently, I’ve been to a couple places in Budapest that I think is fantastic and thought I’d share some of them with you!
The first is Déryné Bisztro in District 1 on the Buda side. It is a beautiful restaurant that serves up tasty European dishes as well as selling HUGE meringues! It was such a lovely day, so we sat outside and enjoyed some Elderflower Lemonade and homemade bread while we waited for our mains. I ordered the Angus Burger – which was absolutely breathtaking. It came with some potato slices and sauce that the waiter drizzled over the top of the bun. Now, I have never seen a burger look that beautiful and posh before! I LOVED it.
Would definitely recommend visiting Déryné if you find yourself in Budapest. It is a little pricey, but the food makes it worth it. My mum had the duck salad, which was mouth-wateringly good! Sadly, I was far too hungry to even wait to take photos of my food, but next time I most certainly will!
The second place is Pata Negra in Buda. It’s a tapas restaurant with a Spanish feel to the place. There were quite a few of us as I tagged along to a dinner with my mum and her friends, but there was so much choice in food and wine, it was brilliant.
When we got there, the Waiters put about 6 small dishes on the table to share between 4 people so you could pick and choose what you wanted. This ranged from potatoes, olives, and couscous to chorizo sausage in red wine, meatballs, and lemon chicken. It was such a lovely evening that was topped off with some incredible white Spanish wine (the name of which has escaped me).
Overall, the last couple of days have been wonderful and I have been to so many lovely restaurants in Budapest. If you ever get a chance to go to Budapest, make sure you try these restaurants, as they were simply divine. I will update you so more on other places to go as my time here continues, but for now, I’ll leave you with these!
